Sony's unprecedented Rs 13,000 price cut on the PlayStation 5 in India, coupled with the arrival of the PS5 Slim, reshapes the gaming landscape with enticing affordability and next-gen performance.

Sony has made a surprising and unprecedented move by slashing the price of its PlayStation 5 console in India by an impressive Rs 13,000. This substantial price reduction follows closely on the heels of the launch of the PS5 Slim in the Indian market.

This price drop may be interpreted as a strategic move to clear out existing inventory, especially considering that the PS5 Slim is positioned as Sony's flagship console moving forward. However, regardless of the reasoning behind the price cut, it presents an exceptional opportunity for consumers to seize a remarkable deal.

Sony has labeled this price reduction as part of a limited-time "Summer Promo" offer, applicable to the CFI-1208A01R model, which corresponds to the original PS5 "standard" standalone edition with a disc drive. This offer is set to commence from April 10 and will run until April 30, or until stocks are depleted, across various authorized retailers including 

Amazon, Blinkit, Croma, Flipkart, Reliance, Sony Center, Vijay Sales, and other participating outlets.

Currently, the console is listed at Rs 54,990 on the Sony Centre website (ShopatSC), coincidentally matching the price of the new PS5 Slim disc edition. It's worth noting that the promotional offer does not extend to the PlayStation 5 Slim variant.

The PS5 Slim represents a mid-cycle refresh of Sony's flagship PlayStation 5 console. As the moniker suggests, it boasts a more compact design, with a reduced footprint of up to 30 percent, while retaining the same powerful hardware. 

Additionally, the PS5 Slim introduces several quality-of-life enhancements, such as 1TB storage and two USB Type-C ports. Similar to its predecessor, the PS5 Slim is available in both disc drive and digital-only configurations. It's anticipated that Sony will gradually phase out the original PS5 once existing inventory is depleted, positioning the slim variant as its primary console moving forward.
